Taxonomy

Brunei, Sg. Rampayoh. Same specimen as figured in RTS. The female holotype of Striglina sordida Pagenstecher, 1892:47 from Borneo (Kalimantan) is in the MfNB. Designation of lectotype and comb. n. to Misalina (Whalley, 1976), comb. n. to Aglaopus (RTS:127).

Description

27-32mm. A medium sized, yellow-brown reticulated species. The females are slightly larger. The blotchy patterning is similar to several Canaea species, particularly C. semitessellata but that is paler and has a prominent broad transverse median fascia extending from the HW costa to the inner margin (RTS:127).

Distribution & Habitat

Thailand, W. Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Sabah, Kalimantan. Lowland primary and secondary forest; <150m.

Similar spp.

In most Canaea spp. the paler areas are towards the wing margins. In A.sordida there is a broad dark costal area and a broad median fascia. The genitalia are distinct from Canaea (Whalley, 1976).
