  • Taxonomy


    A type of Glaucocharis albofasciella Shaffer-Gaskin MS*, from Brunei (Rampayoh River), is in the NHM.

    *Gaskin (1985) described 16 new sp. of Glaucocharis but in the NHM are several other Glaucocharis sp. labeled as holotypes [probably by Shaffer] but we cannot find any publication ref. associated with them. Until this is clarified we are treating those names as Shaffer-Gaskin MS names.

  • Description


    Wing length : 5mm. As in all Glaucocharis spp. the FW is slightly bifalcate. It is intricately patterned in orange black and white. The HW is mainly white but suffused with orange submarginally with a partial black marginal line.

    Brunei. Lowland riparian dipterocarp forest: <100m.
