Taxonomy
The holotype of Crambus atkinsoni Zeller, 1863: 9 is from Calcutta.
Syn. Crambus holodryas Meyrick, 1933: 444 (TL Thailand).
Syn. Calamotropha fuscicostella Snellen 1880: 247. The male lectotype selected by Munroe et al. (1958: 75), TL Sulawesi (Bonthain), is in Leiden. Syn. n. (Bleszynski 1961: 196).

ssp. unlaica Bleszynski 1961: 196, pl. 32, fig. 50. W. Malaysia, Singapore, Sarawak, & Labuan.
ssp. atkinsoni Zeller, 1863 (TL Calcutta). Sri Lanka, India, Burma, Thailand, Philippines, Sulawesi. -
Description
Wing length: male 6.5-12mm and female 11-14mm. FW glossy, ochreous to chestnut-brown, darker on the subcosta. There is a black spot in the cell. The unmarked HW is shining white. Head, thorax and abdomen are also brown. Note the long labial and maxillary palpi. The males may be much smaller than the females.
