Genus Beguma  Warren, 1896

Type species: constellata Warren, 1896b:228, by original designation. This is from India, Meghalaya (Khasia Hills) and is in the NHM (Mi7397).

Generic description: Warren’s original generic description based on external morphology of the type does not use particularly distinctive features (although he does describe the wing venation). The publication of a new definition based on genitalic and other characteristics would be useful.

There seem to be only two named species, B. constellata (Warren 1896b:228), from India (Khasi Hills, Meghalaya) and B. erythroides (West, 1932), but at least 8 morphotypes occur in SE Asia. All in Borneo appear to be unnamed. It is a group of relatively small forest moths with a very attractive and distinctive blend of bronzy or golden brown and salmon pink colours. Typically the thyridid reticulation pattern is obvious but there are usually few other distinctive markings on the wings.
