28-36mm. A medium sized species with a yellowish-brown blotchy pattern and an indistinct thyridid reticulation in darker brown. This can fade to a very pale brown, only a band across the HW remaining distinct. There is a triangular pale blotch near the FW apex, on the costa in this patch there are two darker half-spots. There is a small square dark spot on the FW termen just below the apex. It is similar to C. comparalis but that sp. has the red-brown coloration on the Un FW more constricted and clearly defined.
