Herdonia brunneola Inoue, 1993;  Plate 4; not Borneo

Taxonomy

Paratype, N. Sumatra, Primalungun, Prapat Hwg III. The holotype of Herdonia brunneola Inoue, 1993 in the JHRT Coll. is from N. Sumatra (Dairi-W). The paratype is in the NHM (Mi7447) (Inoue 1993: 145, & figs., Inoue 2001: 321).

Description

27-38mm. A rather small species for a Herdonia. Antennal rami slender and about four times the shaft diameter. FW with typical Herdonia patterning with brown clouding produced at M1 from this area. Around the tornus are white spots. It is similar to H. acutapex and H. thielei in wing shape and general patterning but the FW is less falcate and the termen less gibbous. These species are more easily distinguished from genitalia. Face white on the ventral half, grey-brown dorsally.

N. Sumatra, W. Malaysia. Lowland and hill Forest; <1200m.
