Male holotype, Sulawesi, Dumoga Bone NP.
The holotype of Herdonia fumosa Inoue, 2001, from Sulawesi (Dumoga Bone NP) is in the NHM (Mi7746). Known only from the holotype and paratype, female unknown (Inoue 2001: 316 & Figs.).
Description
37-44mm. A highly distinctive species as both wings are obscured by diffuse dark brown clouding. The FW has a few pale patches especially near the basal part, near the costa and elongated over the cell. The HW has a pale fawn background with a brown suffused marginal area which narrows towards the tornus. There is a dark brown basal area and a dark brown sub-marginal band split by a thin dark line.
