Holotype; Sulawesi, Tawaya. The holotype of Banisia pernitescens (Warren, 1897:379) from Sulawesi (Tawaya, N. of Palos Bay) is in the NHM (Mi7407). Ms. comb. n. to Mellea (Shaffer, 1992 LepIndex).

39mm.The holotype of Banisia pernitescens (Warren, 1897:379) from Sulawesi is in the NHM (Mi7407). Ms. comb. n. to Mellea (Shaffer, 1992 LepIndex). Possible syn. of Rhodoneura tetragonata Walker, 1863:78 which it closely resembles. Some specimens have black rectangular markings on their wings. The holotypes of M. pernitescens and M. tetragonata should be re-examined and compared. See M. tetragonata below.
