Genus Novobelura  Shaffer & Nielsen 1996

Type species: dohertyi (Warren, [Aug.] 1897:196) (Banisia).

Syn. Obelura (Warren, 1908:342). Repl. name for Obelura (Warren, 1908:3) [junior homonym], nec Burr (1907:129) [Dermaptera].

Generic description: Novobelura is a monospecific genus, distinguished by the extraordinary length of the abdomen of both sexes, especially the anal segment of the male which is armed below with two lateral brush organs, also by the strongly crenellated termenal margins of both wings and the three deep excisions in that of the HW between the tornus and the middle.
