Taxonomy

W. Malaysia, GTE. The paratype of Microsca marginepunctalis Leech, 1889:66 is from Japan (Satsuma). Comb. n. (Shaffer & Nielsen, 1996). Syn. Hypolamprus pallescens Hampson, 1897:614. TL Moluccas. Description

40mm. A pink-grey species with darker mottling or an indistinct postmedian fascia on the FW and black streaks near the apex of the HW. Very similar to P. quadrovata, but that is larger (c. 40mm wingspan), more silky, and has a cream colored median band on its HW (RTS:132).

Distribution & Habitat

China (SW), Taiwan, Japan, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, W. Malaysia, Sabah, Brunei, Java, Sulawesi, Moluccas, PNG, Louisiade Arch., Bismarck Arch. (St. Aignan), Australia (NT, Q). Lowland to lower montane forest; <600m.

Life History & Pest Status

It feeds in shoots of Glochidion sp. (Euphorbiaceae) (HOSTS [Accessed Nov. 2008]).
