Description
Wing length: 12mm. Said to be best distinguished from C. invertalis Snellen (1876 [1877b]) by genitalia. (RTS 184-185) who figured the sp. Like C. invertalis it has two large fenestrae on FW and a scatter of smaller ones on the HW. It is distinguishable by the preapical costal patch being broadly triangular (Munroe, 1967). Occasionally there is a violet sheen near the wing margins. US is cream shading to brown to the margins. Male antenae have group of curled scales close to the base which are strongly developed in C. invertalis. This sp. has much more pronounced sexual modifications of the legs. Note the long black anal hair pencils of the male. Females have larger fenestrae on HW and a pale upperside to abdomen.
