  • Taxonomy


    The holotype of Scopula hastiferalis Walker, [1866] 1865: 1473 from Sarawak is in UM Oxford.

    syn. Araxes admigratella Swinhoe 1900: 416 (nec. Araxes admigratella Walker 1863: 192) Bleszynski, (1970d: 50)

    Comb. n. to Culladia Moore [1886] 1884-7 (Bleszynski, 1970d: 52, 53).

  • Description


    Wing length: 6mm. The FW are pale greyish with an intricately mottled and lined darker patterning. There is a prominent brown serrate submarginal line and a dark brown marginal line. The HW is a pale greyish with long fringes. The antennae are pale, ringed with brown. Bleszynski, (1970d) illustrates the genitalia (female fig. 9 and male, fig.15). This species is almost impossible to distinguish from its congeners in the Culladia admigratella group without detailed examination of the wing venation or genitalia. See Bleszynski, (1970d)

    Thailand, W.Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, Philippines, Sulawesi, Irian Jaya, PNG (Biak Is., Schouten Is., Bismark Arch., New Britain), Australia, Solomon Is., China (Hong Kong), Taiwan. Lowland forest; <300m.

    A seed borer which has been found in Shorea leprosula fruit (Diperocarpaceae) (Chey, 2002: 49)(at least in part of its range).
