References

This Reference section is very much WIP - Work In Progress. Although most references have already been added to the list for the pyralids as well as for the thyridids, more will be added from time to time.

An important recent reference: We wish to draw your attention to a recent paper on the use of DNA analysis to work out the family & subfamily relationships of pyralid moths:

Regier, J.C. et al. 'A molecular phylogeny for the pyraloid moths (Lepidoptera: Pyraloidea) and its implications for higher-level classification'. See:

www.pyraloidea.org/assets/files/PP7_2013_final.pdf   for a comprehensive summary.

Very active research is now being carried out on pyralids worldwide using the DNA approach. Increasingly we expect this to be an important aid to the classification of Borneo taxa. The link above goes to the 'Pyraloid Planet' newsletter for July 2013, which gives a good summary of Regier et al's paper and other related work.

Having largely completed work on the thyridids, the Pyralids of Borneo Project team is now concentrating on creating and editing species entries from the pyralid families. This involves adding more references from time to time and filling in the blanks in some existing ones. As there are some 2,200 pyralid species and morphotypes in Borneo which we have recognised, uploading and updating the References will be going on for quite some time...
